Nothing compares to the feeling I get when I help a student discover the magic of reading.  My experiences have taught me that it is never too late to turn a non-reader into a reader--IT JUST TAKES THE RIGHT BOOK!

This website is devoted to helping teachers find fun and innovative ways to connect kids to all types of literature and to provide support for teachers willing to "teach outside the box".  In addition to posting the handouts from my presentations, I will also post teaching strategies that I have found to be successful with reluctant readers, so please check back frequently!

ME
My name is Daria Plumb.  I was born and raised in the small town of Dundee, Michigan.  After graduating from Dundee High School in 1990, I attended Western Michigan University and earned my Bachelor's Degree in secondary education.
In 1994 I returned home and was hired to teach at
Dundee Alternative High School ;
I have been there ever since!  In 2004, I received my Master's Degee in
Children's Literature from Eastern Michigan University, where I occasionally teach a section of LITR 207: Introduction to Children's Literature
